RE: NATIONAL CHEMISTRY POSTER COMPETITION 2014
THEME: “Utilising our Natural Resources: the Chemistry of Traditional Medicine”
The Chemical Society of the South Pacific (CSSP) has listed as part of its annual event the “National Chemistry Poster Competition” for potential Chemists. This competition was introduced into the CSSP calendar in 2010 and has been an annual event of the Society since.
In this respect and on behalf of the CSSP, it is my pleasure to write and invite your school to participate in this year’s National Chemistry Poster Competition. The purpose of this competition is to further nurture and advance the creativity of students by having them develop and express their ideas on how they see chemistry at work in their everyday life. On the whole this competition is meant to encourage teamwork among students and to strengthen their overall appreciation of chemistry.
The competition for the different zones will be held on Saturday 21st June, 2014 from 1.00 – 3.00 pm at the following venues:
Central/Southern Zone: FSTE Chemistry Labs, USP, Suva
Western Zone: Nadi Muslim College, Nadi; Xavier College, Ba
Northern Zone: Labasa College, Labasa
There can be a maximum of four participants per poster and individual students or group of students can submit more than one poster. The student(s) can be from any Form (Form 4 to 7). The students will display their posters at the centre most convenient to them within their zone on 21st June, 2014 after securing the endorsement of their respective schools.

The competition has an entry fee of $2.00 per participant per poster and will be collected on the day of the competition. The format of the competition and the Registration Form is enclosed. Completed Registration Forms must be submitted by Friday, June 6th 2014 and preferably emailed to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. Submissions by fax or post will also be accepted.
For schools in the Western Zone, please indicate your preferred venue.
